Maybe Mr. Paul said it best- "O-Scary"
Well, if you're like most Americans you had better things to do than watch the Academy Awards this past Sunday night- like watch reruns of I Love Lucy, feed your fish, or pluck your eyebrows. Being that most Americans never saw the vast majority of movies nominated, it was no surprise that ratings were at some of their lowest ever. So, seeing how most of you probably missed the glitter, glam and blatant narcissism of the Red Carpet this year, I thought that I would take a moment to fill you in on all the important fashion statements of the season.

To save time and money, J-Lo grabbed some vintage curtains out of her grandma's 2bed/1bath on the south side.

I don't know who Michelle Willams is, but apparently she likes bananas a lot. She brought her pet monkey to complete the outfit, but unfortunately it took to harrassing Peter Jackson too much. Apparently it missed its mother...and...well...

Heath Ledger looking the part of the "strong, silent type." I think there's been enough Brokeback jokes to last us a century, so I'll leave that to the pro's like David Letterman.

George Clooney was remarkably quiet on the red carpet. Apparently this wasn't his own doing but rather because none of the announcers could remember what movie he had been nominated for or if he had even made one this year so they took to avoiding him at all costs. Here a brave member of the paparazzi snaps a picture and runs away before George can ask him about what his favorite part of the movie was.

Ludacris, on the other hand, was happy to answer questions. Unfortunately, none of this made it past the CBS censors so we will never know what words of wisdom he chose to impart to us.

Jane Seymour in a Pamela Rolland gown...wait a minute? Jane Seymour? The only time I ever see her on T.V. is on PAX T.V.'s reruns of "Dr. Quinn- Medicine Woman." "How did she make it to the Oscars?" you may ask. Well, it seems Katie Holmes had a few extra tickets because she had to take Tom to an emergency therapy session after he wouldn't stop singing love songs to their ultrasound machine.

Diane Krueger wearing Elie Saab. Elie Saab is a famous baker. He specializes in wedding cakes.

Gary Busey going for the "Old Donald Trump" look. Apparently he was going to trim it before the Oscars but a pair of black-capped chickadees made a nest in it and he didn't want his PETA membership to get revoked.

Next year let's invite Tim Burton and his date to our 80's prom. I mean, that's straight out of '83.

Looks like Naomi Watts got in a fight with a blender before she arrived on the red carpet. Poor thing. At least she still had the guts to come.

Put a beak on that thing and Charlize Theron could have gone as a pirate. But, it seems there's a hole in the top of it to put drinks in. Keeps them cold for up to 8 hours. That's planning ahead.
So you see, you can get away with wearing almost anything in Hollywood. Of course the more popular approach is wearing almost nothing, but fortunately we were mostly spared this year. Come back next year! Arrivederci!

I Love the 80's
Well, last night was the Celebration of True Love banquet at Northwoods. It was pretty much amazing. We talked about God's plan for relationships and that is a very good thing to talk about. Plus we got to do the dance to Thriller and finish up our drama "Surfside High." Yes, I know it didn't have a happy ending. But Brandon and Chris ended up with dates (happy for them) and Max and Chrissy ended up broken up (sad for them). However, this is what happens every day in real life. When we don't base our relationships on God's plan there's very rarely a happy ending. Enough of that, though. I learned a few things from our banquet:
Christian and Anna have some mad worm skills.
I'm really glad guys don't wear gold necklaces anymore. It's just gross.
Awkward prom pictures are fun.
80's music is amazing. (As long as you have a good D.J.)
Mini skirts make dancing difficult.
Here's some pictures from last night:

Anna and Sappy

So cute

Chrissy and Max....

Alicia and Erin (that's better. :0)

It was Thrilling
Thursday night we had drama practice until forever to learn the dance to Thriller. Well, we learned the part of the dance that was humanly possible. As most of you know, I am the worst dancer in the history of the world with the exception of maybe Kenley (have you seen the "Kenley dance?") and Jerry Rice, but I'm trying...

I LOVE this picture of Sappy. It's just amazing.

Me and Brandon

Me and Christian

Diane working on the set

Drew- the exception to my rule

Brandon said he was too hot dancing in jeans...he thought maybe he had some shorts in Jenna's car but he didn't. Instead he borrowed Jenna's....pink.....sofies.....gross.

Me, Erica and Alicia

Me and Mr. John
After we were Michael Jackson-ed out me and Jenshka were hungry so we headed to Guthries to get some fries and sauce. It was like, 12:00 but we saw Julie Queen there. I thought to myself, "That looks like Julie Queen...but, no, it's past her bedtime." It really was, though.

Jenna talking to Sarah on the phone

I'm embracing the ugly pictures, Carli. :0)

Oh my gosh, someone hit her in the head...
You know, the more I hang out with people the more I realize...I'm not the only weird person out there. Maybe weirdness is okay. I mean, yes, I'm obsessed with things being symmetrical- but Jenna's obsessed with things being orderly. I have to make things grammatically correct but my brother has to tie his shoes until they look absolutely perfect. I'm scared of E.T., but John's scared of his shadow. And sunglasses. I have to eat the outside of poptarts first, but Rachel has to color coordinate her M&M's.
I think maybe everyone has weird little idiosyncrasies and we just might not know it. Maybe they're better at hiding it than me, or maybe they just keep it secret. Probably the latter is the most likely.
That was what I was just now thinking about, but on to more important matters. Today was Ash Wednesday, so we had an awesome service at Wesley. It was funny because I forgot that it was Ash Wednesday and I hadn't really noticed anyone with ashes on their head earlier and this girl walked into the Wesley Foundation and she had this huge greyish spot on her head and I thought to myself, "Oh my gosh! Someone hit her in the head!" I felt really bad for her. Then later when we went in the bombshelter and they were putting ashes on people's heads it hit me, "Oh, nobody hit her..." We had a great praise and worship service and talked about Lent and stuff like that. I love how we have such a forgiving God. He is amazing. And me and Jenshka went to Russian Club to help plan Slavic Food Night. (Tentative date: April 3rd at 6:30. Everyone should come who lives in Tally. $5. Best food ever.) That was fun. This year we're adding something new to the menu. We have a friend who is Bulgarian so she's going to help make some Bulgarian dishes. Never had Bulgarian food before. So far we've got people who know how to make Polish, Ukrainian, Russian, Serbian and Bulgarian food. Yum.
Anyway, I have to do a bunch of homework so I'm going to go, but I would just like to point out that Spring break is 2 days away!!! Urrrraaaa! Arrivederci!
P.S.- Writing the word "greyish" made me think about how there are two ways to spell grey. Grey and Gray. I think I use both equally, but I was wondering if there was a preferred spelling. How do you spell it? Consider this a poll.

Remember the good old days when I used to make fun of Diane, Kenley and Lori for staying up late all the time and not getting any sleep?
I was just thinking about that.
Today I came home from school and I decided I was going to take a nap, but then Lori got on ICQ and I just got this great new phone card that's kinda like, the longer you talk the cheaper the minutes become kind of thing, and so I called her and we had to talk for a long time because then I would get a better deal and anyone who knows me knows I'm always looking for the best deal, so when I got off the phone it was like 6:00 and I almost considered just trying to stay up until it was time to go to bed, but that didn't happen. I fell asleep on my bed and at about 11:15 my phone started ringing and it was Shannon and she said that they were at Kenley's house about to play games. I like games. So I went.
We played Cranium and Shannon and Kenley won but only because me and Diane let them. Haha. Then we just sat around acting out all the green cards and Kenley was acting out "evolution" and it was about the funniest thing I've ever seen. Shannon got it on video so when she sends it to me I'll upload it so you all can see it. It was like this interpretive dance, flower growing kind of thing. Amazing. I had to act out "reproduction." What kind of charades question is that? Gosh. Oh, and Diane is really good at guessing "humdingers."
Then I was hungry because I had never eaten dinner so we went to Waffle House and that was, um, educational...I don't think I'll ever be able to eat at a Waffle House again. But that's okay. I learned some things at Waffle House. I will share them with you.
1. One should never wash vegetables with actual soap. When one does, the vegetables taste like...soap.
2. Low rise jeans should just be outlawed altogether. They're fine when one is standing up...You know, in the Old Navy commercials they never show their little models sitting down. That is where the problem lies. Sitting at the bar across from us were three people all of whom's butts were half showing because of their lack of clothing. Ain't nobody wanna see dat.
3. Saturns are very dent resistant. This is a good thing. Especially at 3:00 in the morning.
Well, it's now 4 a.m. and I'm going to go back to sleep. I was thinking about the fact that I probably wrecked my sleep pattern because of this nap and then I realized, I don't have a sleep pattern.
Arrivederci!

Obey your thirst

- You know what I'm talking about. It's the refrigerator with the little "CRUSHED,CUBED,WATER" buttons. Naturally, I picked myself up from my chair and put my glass under the WATER button, seeing this as a perfectly good opportunity to hydrate myself and heed to the wise words of that little Sprite guy with the giant afro, "Obey your thirst."

Okay, well, maybe not that bad... but that's what it felt like. I screamed, "MRS. LAURA!" and she came in the kitchen and said, "Oh no! We don't use that because it's broken! We've gotta turn off the water!" That darn bitter refrigerator. I could see it laughing underneath it's offwhite marblish plastic coating. We were filling up buckets of water and attempting to dump them into the sink before they overflowed, but I'm afraid it was a losing battle. Then Mrs. Laura went and got a trashcan and took the bag out and stuck it next to the refrigerator. I grabbed a Chick Fil A cup and punched a whole in it so that the water could flow through it and into the trashcan. That worked pretty well, but the water was still pumping. We tried to move the evil refrigerator out, but it was too heavy and the floor was really slippery. So Mrs. Laura tried to turn the water off outside but it wouldn't turn off! Go figure. But luckily, just when all hope had been lost and Mrs. Laura figured she'd have to serve dinner in a scuba suit from now on, hope arrived! Mr. Don raced through the door and after unsuccessfully trying to turn the water off outside, moved the refrigerator and turned the water off from there.

Mr. Don...but with hair.
And so the land was saved and everyone lived happily ever after. Even the refrigerator was happy after the group cleaned behind him. However, he did receive 6 months probation and 75 hours of community service. I think he's going to be doing some cooking with the Stove for that. Anyway, the moral of this story:
1. Be careful of disgruntled refrigerators
2. Fire escape plans are great, but water escape plans are important too. Everyone should have a escape window at the top of their ceiling just in case the water gets that high and you need to get out.
3. Just stick with tea. Or Sprite.
