Today I feel: ecstatic because Jesus is alive!
We were singing "Hope of the Nations" this morning in church when it dawned on me: this is a great day. I mean, Christmas is a great holiday and all, but what would Christmas be if we didn't have Easter? Jesus was born. That's nice, but if He hadn't have risen from the dead, if he had just been a normal person, we probably wouldn't even know who He was right now. Easter is everything. The Resurrection gives us freedom from the past, victory in the present, and hope for the future. The entire Bible rests on that one pivotal moment when every prophecy was fufilled and every promise was met. Jesus defeated Satan for good. He's already won the victory, and Easter is the celebration of that. Because of the resurrection we can be perfectly certain that Jesus was who He said He was. And that's something to celebrate!
"He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross. And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross. Colossians 2:13-15"
"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead." I Peter 1:3
Happy Easter everybody! Let's live like He's alive!
