Bigger and Better

It was a dark and balmy night. Meghann looked over her shoulder. Silence. No one was there...at least, she didn't think so. But she felt someone following her. "Maybe I should have stayed in the multi-purpose room," she thought. "But I've gotta get this sour cream off my shirt..." She rounded the hall to room two. Then, from out of the corner of her eye she saw it. The blinky light from that tattoo guy's ankle monitor! Oh no! "Why did I tell him I was from Northwoods Baptist Church?!" But it was too late...
Okay, so it didn't happen quite like that, but for a while me, Leah and Bekah's imaginations were on a caffeine high and we thought it might be so.
So today was the day of the youth scavenger hunt and it was so good. On my team were the coolest people ever! (Well, Lerah wasn't there and I was pretty bummed about that, but that's okay. She shared her coolness with another group.) It was me, Mr. Jim, Brandon, Christian Horton (of the Christian Horton Band, of course), Leah, Rebekah, Jacob Jones and Meghann Bryant. We were playing the game "Bigger and Better" which is a really fun game. You start with a paper clip and you go to people's houses and say, "Do you have something bigger and better than this paper clip?" And then you trade them the paper clip for something bigger and better. The first thing that we got was a pen that said "Mary Kay" on it. So, being the smart people that we are, we grabbed a pen from Mr. Jim's van and split up into 2 groups hoping we could cover more ground that way. It was me, Jacob, Christian and Brandon, and then Bakah, Meghann and Leah. Our group got some really good stuff. We got a bag of cheetos (which we decided not to trade in...cause we were hungry) a box of thin mints (which we likewise decided to keep...and eat...) and then we went to this lady's house and she gave us this sunflower porcelain planter and it was so pretty. We opened up the box and there was a note that said, "Happy Easter! Love Bob, Cathy (Mom) and Duke." I guess the lady must have not liked it very much...
The last place my group went was to this college girl's house. We told her about our awesome porcelain flower pot and asked her if she had something "bigger and better". "Well," she said, "I have this giant stuffed husky-dog and it's really nice. My boyfriend gave it to me." And we were like, "Oh, we don't want to take that from you." And she was like, "Well, he's an ex-boyfriend now, so I was gonna get rid of it anyway." So Christian was like, "Well, then we'll take it!" So she brings out this giant stuffed husky dog and it's awesome. Christian fell in love immediately. It was like some tear-jerking Lassie special. Boy reunited with dog. We decided to name him Duke in honor of Bob and Cathy and their nice porcelain flower pot. Meghann, Bekah and Leah, however, didn't have as great of luck... Armed with their pen, they knock on the door of a rather sketchy looking house and the guy who answers the door is shirtless with a bunch of tattoos and long, stringy hair. So they ask their question. "Hey, we're from Northwoods Baptist Church and we're doing a scavenger hunt. Do you have anything bigger and better than this pen?" He said, "Well, uh, lemme see there fer a second." And he disappears inside the house. But before he does, they look down at his leg and see that he has one of those ankle-monitor-house-arrest things! Now they're just a little nervous... And he comes back and gives them an incense burner. Whew. That's a relief. "E" for effort, girls. :0)
We definitely had the biggest and best thing and Christian has a new best friend, so I think it was a pretty successful evening. Oh, and Meghann was just on her cell phone or something and didn't really get abducted by the scary tattoo guy. So it was all okay. And FSU beat Boston College. That rocks.
Arrivederci!

Brandon told my mom about ya'll's run-in with the house-arrest guy. Not a good idea.
