This is a sick world we live in...

In Colorado this past week there were two girls who decided to skip out on their high school dance because they knew there was going to be drinking and things they didn't want to be involved in. So, they decide to stay home and bake cookies for their neighbors. How sweet is that? They bake the cookies and put the sprinkles on, and tie them up in little packages and attach heart shaped valentines telling their neighbors that they were just thinking about them and wanted to let them know that they care. Sounds nice, right? Well, they come to one of the last houses and by now it's about 10:25p.m. (They'd started at 9:00 because they had to do their chores first because they live on a farm.) The little house on the prairie girls were only going by houses whose lights were on. Instead of waiting for anyone to answer the door, they put the cookies on the front porch, ring the doorbell and run away for a surprise. Meanwhile, inside, a crazy psycho woman decides that since someone rang her doorbell, they must be robbing her. (Because when people are robbing houses in my neighborhood, they definitely ring the doorbell first.) She claims to have been so frightened she thought she was having a heart attack. The next morning she goes to the hospital because she must be having a heart attack. She most certainly wasn't. When the girls find out they write her an apology note and leave it in her mailbox explaining that they didn't mean to scare her and that they were really sorry. End of story, right? Sadly no. The girls even offered to pay for her medical bills, but she wouldn't agree. She said the apology wasn't heart felt and it wasn't in person. (Well, gee, how stupid would you have to be to ring her doorbell again?) The woman calls her ATTORNEY and sues the girls for her medical bills and for damages. And what's worse, she WINS! The Colorado judge is making the girls pay the woman $900 dollars for medical fees. The woman said she hoped the girls learned their lesson. I guess they did. That'll be the last time they try to do anything nice for their neighbors.
